All work is done on premises in a secure, alarmed lab. All data is stored on our encrypted servers for the stated period of time. This means that we aren't outsourcing your drive to another state and tacking on fees! We aren't compromising the security of your data. A brief introduction of Tri-State Data Recovery & Forensics, LLC and its lead engineer, Don J Anderson. Don Anderson opened up Tri-State Data Recovery & Forensics LLC in the state of New Jersey back in 2010 after working nearly 15 years in the IT field. The first IT position that Don had, after achieving the A+ certification, was at the Best Buy tech bench (before they were called "geek squad", of course). After many years of working as a computer technician, Don had achieved a Degree in Network Management back in 2006.
We offer data recovery on all types of desktop and laptop hard drives. Including external portable usb flash drives and solid state hard drives. We specialize in HIPAA compliant data recovery services, RAID, and dropped hard drives requiring clean room data recovery. We perform data recovery from external NAS devices like Buffalo, or Western Digital RAID enclosures.
Software cannot perform this task properly and can cause more media damage. If the bad sectors reside on areas of the platters that user data resides and they are not read this will result in corrupted data. The recovery must never be done directly from the failing drive since this can damage it even further creating more bad sectors or causing a head crash.
Did you know that usb flash drives have a shelf life? The data on the chip starts to become degraded after so many read/write cycles. The average life-span of a USB or SSD is about 5-6 years. This chip must be removed in most cases, decoded with special equipment which could take some time depending on the controller encryption.

I thought the day would never come that I would have my very own. Once that day came, I never stopped studying, upgrading, and building systems for myself and everyone I knew.
In 2004 I earned my Network+ certification and enrolled in Cumberland County College. A few years later in 2006, I earned my Associates Degree in Network Management. That very same week I landed a job for IBM as an IT support specialist, and continued working contracts for many years, and for many different companies like SAP, and Dell.
In 2010 I started a computer service company, "Mr. Anderson's Computer Service LLC" with a major focus on data recovery. After investing more time, money, equipment like a class 10 clean room, DDI, data compass etc.., and taking courses along side of the FBI with the most recognized Data Recovery experts in the country earning the "Data Recovery Expert" Certification. I then started another company called "Tri-State Data Recovery & Forensics LLC", which continues to be my main focus.

Don was a life saver with being able to save my files. I had a passport external drive and it wasn't loading to my Mac or any other devices. I asked around and was directed to Don. I was super happy that he was local and I could drive to his office. I really didn't want to mail my drive somewhere. I wanted to be able to have a conversation and be able to trust the person with my files. Don is very knowledgeable, kind and I trust him.
I spoke with him on the phone and then delivered my drive later that day. He was able to take a look at it and was able to save about 95% of my files. WONDERFUL! The drive had business files, personal files and photos on it. He did such a wonderful job and was quick. I was able to pickup the recovered files within the week. Thank You Don! Tri-State Data Recovery was recommended by a local tech company when my external hard drive failed. It contained a lot of important documents and files, including irreplaceable photos. He was easy to talk to and always answered my calls. Me NOT being a computer guy totally understood his directions and advice. When my external hard drive stopped working and on it was all of my company information my heart stopped. Not knowing what to do, of course I went to the geek squad. We had a hard drive from an old PC from 2009 that I took to Don on a Friday. He called me back on Monday with the results of his diagnostic run and a price to have the work done should I wish to proceed. I picked up the salvaged contents of the drive on Wednesday. I did not ask for a "rush job" or put any expectations on Don for when I needed the job done yet was impressed with the speed at which he turned everything around.
When he called on Monday he was very detailed on explaining what was done to the drive and upfront with the cost. No surprises when I picked up the the data on Wednesday. He also took the time to explain file protection/backup options that he recommends to help protect the contents of our computer in the future. Lucky for us, all we needed from the 2009 drive were family photos and videos we wanted back!

Short: Don is excellent at his job. Recovered everything lost on two old RAID 0 mechanical drives that had been fried by a power surge. Would recommend to anyone who would like to retrieve lost data. Long: Don went through a huge amount of effort with my drives that presented a particular challenge. Don had to fix the original issue the power surge caused, problems another data recovery place caused, and returned the damaged drives in working condition.
After recovering the data it was transferred to an external drive included in the price he gave. When I arrived to pick it up he gave me time to look through the data he recovered so that I could verify everything was there. Don truly knows what he is doing I would recommend his services for any size job. His prices are fair, he is professional, and just seems like a nice guy. He will also offer you help if you need it setting up a better backup solution.

My hard drive failed and of course I did not back this particular drive up this time. I had a lot of important files and none of my computers would read the drive at all. I did some research and Tri-State had some of the best reviews. Definitely worth the ride to drop off the drive in person. Don was professional and really helpful. Going in, I knew it would be pricey but it was worth every penny because he was able to recover 100% of the files on my drive. Don really saved my bacon! If this happens to you, then Tri-State should be the first call you make!
