Nerds to the Rescue If it only took us 10 minutes to solve the problem, why should you pay for a full hour of labor? Santa Barbara's most well-known computer repair company doesn't charge per hour; we charge per task.

When you're paying by the hour, time suddenly becomes a significanr factor. If the computer repair tech runs into difficulities with the task, he'll feel stressed to get the project completed quickly so you won't have to pay any additional time, and he may make mistakes. Also, you don't want to spend your time looking over the computer technician's shoulder and glancing at your watch the entire time, do you?

We'll tell you exactly how much the task will cost before we do it - regardless how long it takes for us to complete the computer repair. So if we get the service done in 5 minutes or 5 hours, it still costs the same price. In the traditional pay-per-hour plan, you get stuck with a bill for all the hours the computer tech spends working for you. Under that payment plan, if the computer repair tech considers that it to take an hour and it turns out it took him 3 hours, he'll bill you for all 3. That seems a little unfair, don't you think?

If we start a computer service and after a couple of hours realize we can't repair it - we don't charge you. We figure you're paying us to get the job finished. The evil pay-by-hour plan would mean you'd have to pay the tech for the two fruitless hours he attempted to fix the problem. But with Nerds to the Rescue it's simple: no fix = no pay.

Since we're not being paid by the hour, it's in our best interest to get done quickly so we can get to our next appointment. How motivated do you think someone is who's paid by the hour?

If I could post a zero star review I would. Do not take your computer here! I had a virus and called them to clean my computer in hopes that a smaller local company would take better care of their customers than the Geek Squad at Best Buy. I was very wrong. The man who fixed our computer was great, very nice and personable. He offered us their own version of spy ware protection (obviously looking to make a profit but if it worked I was ok with it), which I paid for and allowed him to install.

He informed me that Adobe Reader and Java Script brought viruses so he uninstalled them and then installed some alternative, nameless, program to take their place. A week later nothing worked, I could not download attachments, open files or perform basic tasks that used to be automatic with my brand new laptop. I waited several weeks to call them and when I did the owner herself blamed me for waiting so long and told me that Adobe Reader and Java Script were compatible with their software so the fact that they weren't working was not their problem.

After I was unsatisfied with her simply sending me an email without speaking to me further, she quickly raised her voice and lost her temper with me, finding any way possible to deny responsibility. If you want to pay $200 to have your computer "fixed" for it to work much worse than it had previously, then get yelled at and told that you cannot blame them since it had been a month since they had fixed it, go to Nerds to the Rescue! You will not get customer service from them once they have your money.

They have absolutely no experience. I'd rather hire my neighbours' kid next time. They were rude and you could tell not very knowledgeable.

I called them when trying to find a new set of HP cooling fans for my ZD8000 (2004 model). They were honest and straight up that they "could" sell me a new fan step up from HP but they suggested that I try one of their COMPETITORS!!! for a better price. The time and $$ involved on that laptop isn't worth it.They even went on that i would be better off getting a new one on sale at best buy or order online.

When the day comes that I need some other repairs I'll check these guys out for sure!! Any company that will openly suggest that their competition is better suited for an application means that they take their own work seriously and with integrity!!
