It is with deep regret that we inform you that both FirstTech locations, Minneapolis and Rochester, have closed. After 37 years as an Apple Reseller and 73 years in electronics, FirstTech has closed its doors. We want to say thank you to the thousands of people and businesses-small and large-who have worked with us over the years. We have tried our best to make your experience working with us an exceptional one.

We very much appreciated the support the Twin Cities community has given us in return. Over the years FirstTech has provided a variety of services that our clients have appreciated and valued.

Frankly, not a good experience. I am making my first Mac purchase and was looking forward to giving the business to a local small business retailer rather than my University store of Apple Store chain. I had a lot of questions and told the sales staff right away that I've never owned a Mac. They were friendly at first but then explained everything really quickly and when I had to ask questions again, they seemed impatient and cut me off.

I had the impression I shouldn't ask any more questions and as soon as I thanked the associate he quickly rushed away. Later in the day I called to ask a few follow up questions and these were met with a typical IT "are you some kind of idiot" attitude. Pretty disappointing, considering going to the chain or my University store after all.

So sad to see you go, but your time has passed. First Tech was the best. First Apple and Mac dealer in the Twin Cities. Best for years and years. Had a store stocked with Geniuses before Apple knew what that meant. Always expensive, but you got what you paid for. Then Apple opened up their own stores. Direct competition, right down the street, seemed so unfair to one of their first partners in the world.

And with price controls recently dropped, First Tech could no longer survive. We'll miss you. But there's no space left for a dedicated and loyal retailer. Customers and suppliers alike are going for the lowest dollar, and First Tech couldn't compete.

Their sales staff is friendly but tech staff sucks. I took my mac there--it was having a problem freezing up--they kept it for almost two weeks, calling me every other day to tell me they had no idea what was wrong with it and ask me what I wanted to do. Why would they ask ME what I wanted to do when they claim to have techs with "over 20 years of experience?" They did nothing to diagnose or solve the problem and of course, I still had to pay the diagnostic fee. To this day, my computer continues to have the problem.
