Services
Has your laptop stopped charging or must be held in a special position to charge? If so, you might have a problem with the DC jack, or the power port that you plug your charger into. For most laptops, we charge $99.90 + the DC jack, which is typically $15. There are some models in which the labor charge may go up to $149.85; including, but not limited to, Alienware, Dell Precision, and most gaming laptops.
IMPORTANT: Do not attempt to turn on a device that has come into contact with liquid. If the device is currently on, turn it off and remove the power cable and battery to prevent further damage- even if it is currently working. You will greatly improve your odds of rescuing the device if you keep it off.
Screen prices and labor can vary quite a bit- from $135 to over $300 depending on the model. For an exact quote, please call us with the model number and we can give you a quote down to the penny. For Macs, we would need the serial number. If we can place the order for LCD screen before 4PM we can often have the screen replaced by the end of the next business day.*
Whenever your computer pops up with an error it's always frustrating. In too many cases the message is vague or impossible for most to understand what the resolution is. Whether you have a Windows PC or a Mac, don't worry! Our experienced techs are here to take those frustrations away and quickly get you back on the road.

Michael did a great job on my laptop. He quickly dropped in a new part and fixed an issue which HP had not addressed during the warranty period. This is the second time I have used his company and I would highly recommend his services. His prices are very fair.

They do not mention up-front that they charge $70/hour in labor for your diagnostic. Edit: I had it pointed out to me that the fee is listed on the service request I signed AFTER having turned over my laptop. To me, this looks like a receipt, NOT THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS. If this is your only mention of your pricing, I would call that poor business practice.

Beyond disappointed considering the reviews. I took my laptop in for the cover to be replaced. They couldn't do it that day because they didn't have the part (totally understandable.) When the part arrived, I brought my laptop in on Monday. I was told it'd be done "very soon, probably within the hour." I didn't hear from them at all and ended up calling Wednesday.

I asked if my computer was ready and I got some awkward run around answer that made me immediately suspicious. He mentioned my hard drive being old and needing to be replaced (my computer wasn't slow, I just wanted them to make sure I had the correct virus program). I told him that I'll think about replacing it but since I just put all this money into fixing my cover, I wasn't going to pay for another repair at the moment.

Then he pushed again about getting a new hard drive put in, etc. and I said no. After I said a firm no, he quickly said "I'll call you right back" and seemed nervous. I thought it was really odd and texted my boyfriend saying something seemed off, especially because of how hard he was pushing for a new hard drive. Although he said he's call right back I did not hear from him all day.

I called the nest day (Thursday) and left a voicemail, didn't hear back. Called again in the afternoon and finally got an honest answer.something happened while checking my hard drive and the operating system became corrupted and unbootable. Basically, my hard drive got messed up and I'd need a new one. Mistakes happen, I get it. It was an honest mistake - I know they weren't out to ruin my hard drive.

What I'm most disappointed with is the fact that he tried pushing me into buying a new hard drive (and paying for the labor) to cover his butt. When it was clear that I wasn't going to pay for a new hard drive and labor, he had to own up to the mistake. He did take care of the labor fee and did not charge me to put in a new hard drive (I ended up getting the newer one put in per his recommendation, so I did pay for the newer hard drive).

I now see that I should have just had the same hard drive put in for no cost at all. I spent the extra money on a "newer, faster" hard drive but I've had issues since it was put in. Since my hard drive crashed, I've been booted out of all my saved accounts/login on my laptop. I already called once today to troubleshoot a problem I'd never had before (it was a simple fix and he was very quick to help).

But now I am unable to log into my email and my computer is acting slow almost (issues I've never had in the past). I'm all for supporting small businesses and everyone there was friendly. I'm just disappointed with how everything was handled and how I was almost bullied into paying for their mistake. I'm extremely frustrated as I'm still being inconvenienced with new issues with my computer, having to keep contacting them for help.

My laptop had been experiencing issues since BEFORE the pandemic. After discovering my warranty was expired, I took my sisters advice in finding a small repair shop instead of seeking assistance from Geek Squad. Michael provided the diagnostic quote over the phone and even gave specific instructions on how to locate his office. He contacted me about my issue, he informed me what was wrong in terms I could understand. I spent less than $200 on my computer repairs and are extremely happy with the service I received. I recommend anyone in the Austin area to visit my tech angel, Michael.

We have effectively been screwed by Michael with Austin PC Tech. We brought in a brand new Mac laptop in June to get a RAM upgrade to handle working from home for a tech-based job. He did the repair and then decided to double seal the computer screen to the computer frame, thinking it would be extra secure. This seemed fine at first, but we started noticing that the screen wasn't holding very well.

Fast forward to the day before Thanksgiving - overnight, the screen fell out of the housing, smashed on our desk, and shattered the screen. The gap between the layers had let air into the computer, and there was rust inside the computer frame. At first we could only display the computer into another monitor, but the fan was loud and the screen would periodically crackle with snow and then subside. Then, the outside display wouldn't display the computer at all.

We immediately called Michael about the incident, citing photos of the damage and how there's no way anything could have knocked it over. He was immediately skeptical and spent 15 minutes trying to hash out how his tape could not have failed - as if we don't understand basic physics. After flat-out asking him if he thought we were trying to trick him, he finally agreed to start looking for a replacement part.

We have been calling every other day for three weeks, and for the first week he updated us about trying to find a replacement part from overseas. But now he won't even call us back or respond to our messages. Today was my last straw when the secretary ensured me he could call me before 1PM, and he didn't. Now my $1.5k computer is completely useless and we can't even get them to respond to us.

He won't admit that his work led to the destruction of our computer, and now he won't even give us the good graces to follow up on what he can do to fix it. He has treated us like garbage throughout this incident and I'm convinced he doesn't want to fix it because he knows we won't pay full price for his mistake. Avoid at all costs.

They saved my Legion Y-540 experiencing a powerjack issue. I was told by the Lenovo shop in Austin that they had to replace the whole motherboard and it cost close to $900. Michael fixed it with a $15 part in the same week. I highly recommend!

Brought in my custom pc wondering why it wasn't outputting images. After week of not doing much, they just blamed the cpu and motherboard. When I brought it to another pc repair shop, they noticed right away that power wasn't being fed to cpu, therefore instantly solving my problem and not charging me. These guys are NOT the guys you want taking a looking at your custom pc. Not true Nerds who I want looking at my pc. Lost 60$

I was very impressed with the service I received for some work on my laptop. I took it in on Wednesday around 1 pm and they had the work done by the end of the day so that I could pick it up first thing the next morning. Robert was very detailed in explaining what my options were and I could not be happier. They could have easily led me down a path where I would have spent seven times what I did and I would have never been the wiser.but they didn't. Great service and they did exactly what needed to be done.

Very fast and professional. I brought my computer to them after Geek Squad told me they weren't able to replace my laptop keyboard (following a liquid spill). Geek Squad charged a nonrefundable $85 only to tell me there was nothing they could do. Austin PC Tech confirmed that they could replace my keyboard before ever charging me anything, and their rates were very reasonable. Robert was very helpful. Would definitely recommend!

This place did such a great job on both of my laptops they both had badly cracked screens and some viruses they told me it should be ready to be picked up in less than 3 days and quoted me a very inexpensive price the 2nd day they were ready to be picked up and looked brand new thank you so much Robert for not only a great experience but also amazing customer service

Both Michael and Robert really know their stuff, and it shows in the great problem solving that my friends, family, and myself have all been fortunate enough to have been provided with at reasonable prices on our various laptop and desktop computers. This is a long overdue 5-star review as it seems to have been 10 years or so since I first appreciated their services when a hard drive began to go bad. If they aren't the right ones for any certain need, they are able to refer you to who is. A+! Thanks, guys.

AustinPCTech rendered service for complications from a coffee spill atop my laptop keyboard. I had low hopes given the volume of the spill, but went forward anyway because I like the computer (fast, large screen, lots of RAM). I've noted the AustinPCTech office in its current location for years, but had never had the occasion to use their services.

I went there blindly, as I knew of their longevity from personal observation, and doubted any business would survive in NW Hills without being reputable. I was greeted by Robert and explained my quandary. He advised a reasonable course of action and took the hardware into their work stream. Luck reigned when findings were rendered the next day: the keyboard was toasted but the motherboard, etc were unscathed.

A replacement keypad was ordered; Robert worked with me to schedule shipping in accordance with my priority so we could manage cost as much as possible. The part arriveda few days later: I was advised of it's arrival and told to expect a call on completion the next day. Robert called first thing on the day promised -- he must've cranked the work overnight. Back in business, albeit, now using a USB-connected external keyboard to allay risk of another catastrophe while I quaff another cup of joe.

Our computer crashed during the holidays and our old tech has gone out of business. These guys had good reviews and not far away so called them and made an appt. for the first business day of 2017. Unfortunately I got food poisoning over the holiday and was at home sick and didn't have their number (couldn't remember the name of the company) so I missed the appointment.

I apologized profusely and have been trying to reschedule since then. The guy in the office is very nice and apologetic (not the owner) but the tech that comes to your office refuses to call me or schedule (the owner). I called every single day last week and got NADA! Is he trying to get back at me? I am giving up and looking for someone else. They may be good but they are either overwhelmed or passive aggressive - either way - NOT A GOOD SIGN!

What a great place with great people. I always take my laptop to Robert when I run into issues. Because of his efforts, years of family photos I took are now safely back on my new computer. The folks there shoot straight regarding repairs and the likelihood of success - they don't try to convince you to keep spending. The time for my repairs has always been reasonable and they call me to provide updates when needed.

As an engineer (now retired), I have had to rely on personal computers a great deal over the years. I've taken three different computers to Austin PC Tech in the last ten years - all were inoperable. Within a reasonable amount of time, and for a very reasonable amount of money, each system was repaired and restored to "good as new" condition. What more can I say? I've had work by other shops, and have nothing bad to say about any of them. But PC service just doesn't get any better than Austin PC Tech.

I have used yelp for years to read reviews for all kinds of things and found it very helpful, but never posted until now. I feel the need to let others know about the customer service I received. I cracked the screen on my laptop and decided (from reading yelp reviews to bring it to austinpctech. Robert (not the owner) was extremely helpful and determined that the best course of action was to replace the whole screen assembly.

They found a supplier of theirs they could order one from that would work. I paid for the part (about $250) and waited about a week for austinpctech's call that the part was in. Brought in my laptop and left it with them. Got a call the next day from Robert that their supplier sent them a screen assembly that was not comparable with my laptop.

I asked Robert my options. He said that austinpctech could order another screen assembly from another supplier and it would take 5-7 more days or they could refund my money. But here's the kicker.they won't refund my money until their supplier refunds them their money. I asked Robert about this bc I am doing business with austinpctech and not with the supplier.

Why would they hold my money? Robert said he would check with the owner. The next day I called Robert (very nice by the way throughout this whole process) and he said the owner said it was not their fault that the supplier sent them the wrong part so he won't refund my money until they get refunded. I am appalled. I am a small business owner.

I would never hold someone's money due to a snafu on my end (even if it's not my business's fault). That's part of the liability of owning a business. The owner would not budge on this. I think it's a terrible business practice. And Robert said that the owner said that this is their policy. I will bring my business elsewhere.

After my local computer repair shop told me that my laptop wasn't repairable, I called Austin PCTech. I spoke to Robert, who was very courteous and explained exactly what needed to be done. They were able to get my laptop up and running quickly, and their prices were more than reasonable. I wouldn't hesitate to call on them again!

I got great service here from Robert. Very through explanations and gave me as much information as he could. They diagnosed my problem quickly and gave me a quote right away. I was going to replace my motherboard, but then they ran some tests and said my hard drive was also failing. After the quote for both it wasn't worth saving the computer so I jsut had them save my data for my new computer.

They only minor thing is their hourly rates for working on things seem a bit high, but that's just an initial impression I didn't do any price comparison shopping so I could be wrong. Either way you can't go wrong with this place, good service, great work, at (i think) a decent price.

Great service. Very nice people. Quick and efficient. I dropped my Asus off for a DC jack replacement and they got it done in less than a day. They are experienced and qualified. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a reliable repair. Plus there's a warranty on the work.

My 12 year old laptop (a HP Compaq nx-6310) recently was suffering from both shift keys not working sporadically. Every other key worked fine. After testing the keyboard with both operating systems and safe mode, I figured the keyboard, not software, was the culprit. In addition, my cats like to walk on my laptop when it's left unattended for more than a hour. Actually, I'm surprised the factory keyboard lasted as long as it did. So, I purchased a new keyboard from an on-line parts vendor.

I would replace the keyboard myself. However, I needed to buy a special screwdriver for a couple screws. Screw that. Then I went shopping on Yelp for a shop that wouldn't charge an arm and a leg for a laptop keyboard replacement. AustinPCTech was one of four choices. At first, I was kind of anxious about them because I'm a firm believer in the axiom "you get what you pay for".

I brought my laptop and the replacement keyboard to them sans appointment. Some of the other choices required an appointment. Normally, the labor rate for drop-off repair service is $49.95/hour. Robert mentioned that for certain services the labor rate is cut in half. Fortunately, I was charged the discounted rate for what I required. To my surprise, the replacement was done in ten minutes while I waited and watched.

I was both amazed and impressed with the speed and attention to detail of his work. Robert even replaced a couple of screws that were missing and blow out my dust bunnies at no additional charge. I highly recommend AustinPCTech for their professionalism and value of service.

Had an issue with my laptop. Called Austinpctech and spoke to Robert and explained the problem. He explained to me that it might take up to three hours to take care of the problem @49.95 per hour. I was OK with that. Since I was leaving town the next day, I needed the work to be completed ASAP. Robert assured me that if it was in by 2PM, they will make sure that it's taken care of the same day.

Sure enough he called me at 4.30 PM and said it will take only an hour and a half to resolve the issue and as promised will be repaired the same day. I was very impressed with their honesty as they charged me exactly half the amount that I was prepared to pay. On top of that they completed the work same day. It does not get any better. I am definitely a life long customer. Thanks Robert!

We do a lot of trade/business with Austin PC Tech - they're our neighbors (at work). One of our work PC's (which happened to be mine) kept having blue screen starts and trouble booting at start-up. Austin PC Tech restored the operating system and deleted the issue all while remaining in touch with me and my business to keep us informed on status. Settings and files were not lost. Robert & Mike (and staff) are pleasant and easy to work with and ensure customers are informed, happy and educated. I highly recommend Austin PC Tech

I had some serious computer problems develop and took my laptop in to another shop. That shop kept the laptop for five days and gave it back to me with several problems unresolved. I called AustinPCTech and Michael, the owner, came out for a housecall the same day. After some brief diagnostic work he clearly explained what problems I had and advised me that it would be much more economical to let him take the computer back to his shop rather than paying the hourly rate for what might be a long housecall. They fixed what the other shop missed and did an excellent job. I would highly recommend them and will definitely use them again.

I screwed up my computer by renaming my hard drive by accident. It could have been computer-mageddon, but thanks to the referral of a tech I've used for years who only does on-site company work now, I found Austin PC Tech. To my surprise and delight, I found that a good friend of mine works there, and he went to extra mile to undo my dumbassery, even staying after-hours to ensure the issue was fixed. He also gave me advice on how to do what I was attempting in the first place better. If you have a computer problem, go to Austin PC Tech and ask for Robert!
